Welcome!
My first book, Isaac Newton & Physics for Kids, is  available in bookstores and online. I wrote this biography
about Newton for clever readers to discover how one young sheep farmer turned 17th century science upside
down and changed our ideas forever.

My book offers 23 activities to explore Newton's laws of physics and a range of other topics about his life and
times. Putting together these activities took some digging, and I uncovered lots of new knowledge as I wrote
them up. Did you know

.... that Isaac Newton ate his apple pie baked in a "coffin?"

... that Newton proved that white light contains all the colors of the rainbow?

....that Newton made his own ink and used it to write in his notebooks?

....and that someone hid many of Newton's notebooks for 250 years?

Grownups will find new things about this brilliant, bizarre man, as well.
(When it comes to writing for young people, Theodore Roosevelt got it right!)
This will be a handy supplement to a physics
curriculum and would be a useful selection for school
and public libraries. –

Hollihan introduces readers to the scientific brilliance,
as well as the social isolation, of this giant figure,
blending a readable narrative with an attractive format
that incorporates maps, diagrams, historical
photographs, and physics activities. –

“I think there ought to be children's books. I think that the child will like grown
up books also, and I do not believe a child's book is really good unless grown
ups get something out of it.”

Book
This book, aimed 9+ readers, is about a man, his
physics, and activities—brought together to provide a lot
of science fun. It starts with a timeline of Newton’s life,
establishing the theme that biography, science, and
historical changes are all connected. This is an ideal
way to begin to discuss science in the context of society.
